The Lamb is worthy of the reward of His suffering.

My name is Brooke, but I go by Jacqueline now. I am 20 and learning what it really and truly means to live for Christ. I am currently in a Discipleship Training school and this blog is about what God is doing in my life!

Hearing the Voice of God with Vickie Hedgepeth

This was week two’s topic. It was a perfect topic to sort of begin our school of with since this whole time we have been drawing closer to God through hearing His voice and waiting upon Him. That week I learned that God is ALWAYS speaking to me. There is never a time when He doesn’t have a day about my life, I may not be tuned in to His voice though. That is when I learned to start going to God with things other than my problems and whining but He also wants a part in my life when I am making decisions (yes, even shopping). He wants me to be wise with the money He is giving me and what I am doing with my free time!

Another big thing I got from that week’s teaching is that God is totally trustworthy. I can talk to Him about everything, His intent is never to shame or embarrass me. My God is a personal God. He calls me by name. He has given me numerous gifts: laughing, a fall breeze, sunsets. He wants to be intimate with each and every one of us. Hearing the voice of God is not something that benefits God, it does benefit us. It helps draw us closer to the Lord in love and friendship. God doesn’t just want the pretty parts in our lives, He wants it all. He will meet you wherever you are and in whatever kind of situation.

When waiting upon the Lord, be relentless. Hearing the voice of God is like riding a bike. You get better as you continue to do it. For me, the hardest part about hearing the voice of the Lord was dying to my own thoughts and then I heard this lovely quote by Joy Dawson “Your mind does not wander without your control.” Since then I have learned what it means to take your thoughts captive and lay them down at the feet of Jesus.

Lastly, I want to apologize for the choppiness of this post. I was simply going by my notes which just happened to be all over the place. So, thanks y’all for reading my posts. Draw close to God and He will draw close to you :)
