Getting caught up.
Since the lecture phase is halfway over I will do my best to get everyone caught up! I am currently living in Monroe, NC on a Youth With A Mission (YWAM) base where I am doing a Disciple Training School (DTS)! And basically what a DTS is is a 6 month school with 3 months of lectures about God, His character and how to minister to people and the next 3 months are spent in another country taking all that has been learned out into the real world. So far we have had speakers come in and talk about Quiet Times, Hearing the Voice of God, Intercession/Standing in the Gap, Relationships, Inductive Bible Studies, Biblical Counseling, Evangelism and a week of Revival in Alabama! I will go into way more detail on what I’ve been learning in separate posts.
Sadly, my trip comes with a price. A very large number, for me at least. The total cost of my trip is $7,500. Going into my DTS I was so nervous and I thought there was absolutely NO way I was going to get that money. Good thing I am a daughter of the ultimate provider! Through some fundraising and work, God has provided $6,500. So now I only owe $1,000 (by next week) and I know that it will come in. God has increased my faith by showing me that if I trust in Him and obey Him he will and meet all of my needs!
One of the most important parts of a DTS is the outreach! Going into this school I had no clue where I would be going on my outreach, and I didn’t know for the first six weeks. We asked God for His heart for our outreach and what He wanted to accomplish during this time. So, after the staff had confirmation about where we are going and what we are doing they were able to tell us! My fall 2011 DTS is going to INDIA and AFRICA for our outreach!!! 12 of us are going to INDIA (including ME!) and 7 are going to Africa! I am so excited to live in the Indian culture for 3 months! While we are in India we get to wear colorful punjabi’s, eat delicious Indian food and travel to cities like Jaipur, Mumbai and Hyderabad! I also cannot wait to see God’s heart for Indian and how he wants to use my group there.
Not only am I learning about God’s character, I am learning about who I really am and I am finding my identity in Christ! My whole life I have been looking for something to live for and until I found God, nothing satisfied my needs. Now, I live to give God glory. I live to call the nations back home to Him because that is what He deserves. He is worthy of the reward of His suffering! I live to show people that they too have a purpose. I am so grateful for my friend’s and family and for the provision I have had my whole life! I know God has so much more planned for me and I am ready to jump in the deep waters of His love.
